I will always remember Jim and Fern walking hand in hand around the neighborhood and Fern's friendliness and warm smile.
Grandma Fern would have all of the grandkids sleep over on her living room floor and we would watch a movie like one of the original Star Wars together. Then around 4am, she would walk through the living room and push the button on her talking alarm clock that would read the time out loud over and over until we all woke up (I believe Grandma gets all the credit for me now being a morning person). Then we would gear up and pile into the back of her blue Buick and head out toward Lake Cuyamaca. We would listen to country music (Achy Breaky Heart and Way Down Yonder on the Chattahoochee are forever etched in my brain because of Grandma) on the way while four to five of us grandkids "shared" seatbelts in the backseat. At the lake, we fished together and played together. I cannot see Cuyamaca without remembering the rocks we sat on as we fished with Grandma (Grandpa, too). She Loved us so much and shared Jesus' Love with us constantly - Grandma, Grandpa, and my Mom are the reasons I am saved and I know I will see Grandma again one day!
