Obituary
Reita Fern VinCurek, known lovingly as Fern, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted servant of God, passed away peacefully at her home in El Cajon, California, on May 20, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born on October 31, 1937, in Plainview, Texas, Reita lived a life marked by faith, service, and love.
She is survived by her loving husband, James VinCurek, and her four children:
Stephen and Mindy VinCurek of Lakeside, CA
Lorrie and Robert Dykmans of El Cajon, CA
Connie and David Lloyd of Alpine, CA
Kim and John Dupree of Grandview, TX
She was a proud grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of fifteen, each of whom was deeply blessed by her love and guidance.
Fern faithfully served her community through her work in the transportation department of the Cajon Valley School District, where she was admired for her dependability, kindness, and quiet strength.
A true Child of God, Fern was a long-time member of Lakeside Christian Church and later Skyline Church in Lakeside, CA, where she worshipped faithfully and nurtured her steadfast devotion.
Her spiritual life was the foundation of her character, and she lived each day with grace, humility, and compassion.
Fern’s legacy is one of unwavering devotion—to her family, her faith, and her community. As she enters her eternal home, she is surely welcomed with the words:
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
