Celebrating the Life of Richard StansberryRichard C. “RC” Stansberry graduated to heaven on August 19, 2018 in San Diego at 86 years of age. Preceded in death by his parents Richard and Lella, his brothers Freddy and Jim, and sister Billie Jane, and his beloved wife Elizabeth. Survived by his sister Lillian and 3 children Cheryl Graf (Russ), Diane Knochel (Theodore) and Daniel (Lisa) as well as grandchildren Russell, Eric and Joe. Loved by many nieces and nephews, and many friends and saints that he ministered to.Born on February 27,1932 in Blue Ash, Ohio, Richard joined the US Navy the 26th of November 1951 and served for four years in the Korean Conflict in which he received both the Korean Service and National Defense Medals. Richard met the love of his life, Betty, while on leave in Chicago. This week would have been their 65th Anniversary, and their marriage was a model of Christian love and servanthood.Richard was a trained maintenance electrician by trade but could probably build or repair almost anything. He moved his family from Ohio to Southern California in 1960, and he worked for Ford Aerospace, and for the Port of Los Angeles, amongst others. He was hard working, energetic, creative and he loved people. However, his real passion was serving his Lord. After years of service and ministry in his home church in Bellflower, CA, he answered the call to move to Phoenix and plant his own church, with the support of his wife and children. Eastside Apostolic Church was established in 1980 and ministered to countless individuals and families for over 25 years. He diligently studied his Bible and preached the Word. His most common expression was “Thy will Oh Lord” and it was his guiding light that resulted in a beautiful, fruitful and rich life.Visitation to be held Wednesday, August 22 at Greenwood Memorial Park – 4300 Imperial Ave. from 5pm to 9pm. Funeral Service to be held Thursday, August 23 at 11am; also at Greenwood.
