Dear Kobusch family, my name is Dietrich Kobosch. I live with my family in Dortmund, Germany. After my father died, I started to find out a little more about my family via the Internet. You can perhaps imagine how amazed I was to read the name Russel Dietrich Kobusch. "Dietrich" is a rare name in Germany, "Kobosch" even rarer. And then I read Russel's full name and the story behind it. Admittedly, I felt sad, even though I didn't know Russel. I wish the entire Kobusch family all the best. Hi Janice. This is Brett Rhyne; I house-sat for your neighbors at 5111, Robert & Paula Forney, in the early 1990s when I was a grad student at UCSD. I wanted to express my condolences about Russell. He was a great kid — I remember how much he liked coming over to play with Garvey, the house standard poodle, and I enjoyed our talks when he trailed along on my walks around the neighborhood (I taught at National University and there was a path down the hill I used to walk there). He was a bright light and the world will miss him.

I have known Russell since he was in his mom's belly ?? He must of been made with extra honey because he was a sweetheart. When I was told about his passing I couldn't stop crying. My mom loved him so much, he said he had a heart of gold. He was always so nice to her and gave her a big hug when she would visit San Diego. What a handsome loving man. He will be missed greatly.

Russell, Was Just the most laid back person I have ever known! All smiles, all the time there is no one like him. He never said a bad thing about anyone, he made everyone feel like family. I will miss his comments at the meetings I will miss him taking the time to talk to my sons. I will miss his smile!!!!

I remember meeting Russell for the first time. He was outside working on his house and I was next door working on my car. Next thing I hear was " Hey there". I looked around and didn't see anyone. Then I heard him move and I look over and Russell was standing right on the other side of the bush that divided our properties. We talked for a while and I kept thinking how cool it was having such a nice neighbor. From that point forward every time I would see him he would always stop and say hi to me. He was a hell of a guy and a great neighbor. He will definitely be missed!

I worked with Russ at CalTrans. When I needed "volunteers," he would always be one of the first ones to step forward and say, "I'll help you. What do you need help with." He is greatly missed. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family. RIP.
