Russell Dietrich Kobusch's Obituary
Russell was born on August 20th 1982 in San Diego California. He was a very happy baby especially once he started to crawl and walk and that was how Russell spent the rest of his life on the go and doing for others.Russell grew up in an area of San Diego called Kensington. He was raised in a loving home and lived in that home until he got married. What the Kobusch family was most known for were their great dinner parties and many other gatherings. Russell loved to be apart of all of it! During his childhood he didn’t just spend time in San Diego but spent many summers in upstate New York where he enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with family. In his free time growing up, he loved to skateboard, body surf in the ocean, and go to the desert to ride his dirt bike.Russell graduated from Scripps Ranch High School in 2000. In high school he learned to play the saxophone. One of his favorite classes was wood working. Russell’s love for woodworking carried on through out his life. Every year, at the Del Mar Fair, he most enjoyed going to the woodworking exhibit. One of Russell’s last wood projects was making a hand plane so he could enhance his body surfing in the ocean. He then set out for a career and took courses on construction. He worked with a close friend on condominium maintenance where he learned many skills. He moved on to a bigger company and worked with his brother Charlie at Martin Corporation doing drywall. He later used this skill of doing drywall for the Regional Building Committee. This was one of his greatest joys. In 2007 Russell started working for Caltrans as an equipment operator 2. Among many of Russell’s great qualities he was known to be the hardest worker at any of his jobs!Russell married Tess on January 25, 2008. They bought their first home in the spring of 2011. Russell loved owning his home. He enjoyed working on projects to fix up his home. He had a talent of always figuring out how to tackle any project. Nothing was ever too hard for him. What he enjoyed the most was carrying on his family tradition of hosting dinners and gatherings in his home.Anyone that knew Russell knew his greatest passion was fishing. Russell will most be remembered by his other passion and that was helping others. He literally would give the “shirt off his back”, for any one in need. You could always count on Russell to be there for you. He had a great gift knowing what to do to help anyone in need. Russell was VERY loved by family and friends and he will be greatly missed.
