Salvia E. Thompson, Jr.'s Obituary
Salvia “Tom” Edward Thompson Jr. answered God’s call on April 12th 2016. Salvia was born on July 16, 1929 in Texarkana Texas to Salvia and Annie Senola Thompson. He graduated from Dunbar High School in 1945. Later he attended Prairie View A&M University before joining the Navy as a Machinery Repairman. He married Annabelle Forrest in Reno Nevada in 1955. After deployments around the country, the couple settled in San Diego where they raised two children, Sylvia and Douglas. Salvia retired from the Navy a lieutenant junior grade after 20 years. He also worked for 20 years as a Systems Analyst for San Diego County. Salvia enjoyed jazz music, particularly of the 1940s, and played the trumpet in several bands as a young man. He was generous, thoughtful and a dedicated family man. He was active in church life and an avid sports fan. Salvia is survived by his wife Annabelle Thompson; children, Sylvia Thompson and Douglas Thompson; grandsons Jerrod Thompson (Sierra), and Julius Thompson; great-grandchildren Mariana, Salvia, and Lino; and a host of friends and relatives.
