Samuel Garza's Obituary
Samuel Garza was born in San Diego, CA on November 10, 1948, his parents were Manuel Lara Garza and Elvira Martinez and they were born in San Angelo, TX, where they married. Sam was survived by two (2) older sisters; Edna Garza and Elaine Reyes, and two (2) older brothers; Manuel Garza, Jr. and Carlos (Charlie) Garza. Sam attended Sherman Elementary School, Brooklyn Memorial Middle School, and San Diego High School. Sam has three (3) sons; Fernando Garza, Armando Garza & Ricardo Garza, and five (5) grandchildren; whom he loved very much and was always showing off their photos to his family. Sam worked at North Island in Ground Maintenance and he also delivered auto parts. He cared very much for his sister-in-law; Eloise Garza, he would share his personal issues and pain issues with her quite often. During the Vietnam War he was awarded the Silver Star for Gallantry in Action; the 3rd highest Medal Honor, he also received the Bronze Star, The Combat Infantry Badge, and several other medals. He is vetted and listed in the Hall of Valor: http://valor.militarytimes.com/search.php?term=Samuel+Garza Sam battled stage 5 kidney disease, & diabetes brought on by “Agent Orange” the chemical spray used to kill foliage during the Vietnam War. Sam was a very modest and reserved person, he didn’t talk much about himself, he loved concerts and music, and playing the slot machines at casinos. He will be truly missed by his loved ones and friends he knew, his pain and suffering are no more, may he rest in peace, The Lord has his hand. ****NOTICE*****Having the honor of receiving The Silver Star Medal, makes Samuel Garza eligible to have a ground burial at Arlington National Cemetery, the most famous cemetery in the country, the final resting place for our Nation’s Greatest Heroes. The family of Samuel Garza has chosen, his hometown; San Diego, California as his final resting place.
