Driscoll, Shawn Michael's Obituary
Shawn Michael Driscoll aka Shonner of El Cajon, CA, passed away unexpectedly on September 1, 2024. He was a brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend.
Shawn was born on August 31, 1963 to John Joseph Driscoll Jr and Dorothy Miles Driscoll in San Diego, CA. Shawn always had an interest in computers and science fiction. By both hobby and profession, he built and programmed computers, designed and coded games, specifically role-playing games (RPGs), and he critiqued a variety of RPG styles.
Before, during and after retiring from the Department of Defense, Shawn invested a lot of his time in the online RPG community mentoring and teaching others all things RPG. This is where he left a legacy.
Shawn was predeceased by John Joseph Driscoll Jr and Dorothy Miles Driscoll. He is survived by Kevin Driscoll, Leslie (Danny) Moreland, Cary Driscoll, Laura (Alex) Johnson, Diane Ashton as well as his nieces and nephew; Ashton (Brandon) Palmateer, Bryce Moreland, Julie Johnson, and Jessica Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Game to Grow (https://gametogrow.org), an organization that uses RPG as a tool for therapeutic, educational and community growth.
