Vivian and my mother became best friends through bowling together since the late '50s.
Back in 2010, my mother became ill and ended up at a convalescent center. My brother and I went there each day to visit her, and Vivian came almost as often. Our mother joked with Vivian, saying that if something happened, she wanted Vivian to "adopt" Randy and I, so we wouldn't become orphans. She passed away a few months later, and Vivian told us what our mother had said. We said we would like that very much.
Randy and I decided that if we had been "adopted", then we would start coming over to visit on a regular basis. That grew into a weekly event, where we would visit, water the plants, bring over some BBQ or leftovers, and do a handyman project, if needed.
Vivian had a positive attitude and seldom complained, even with the physical challenges she faced. I will sure miss her, and the times we visited, had lunch and dinner together, and talked about Padres baseball.
RIP Vivian,
Larry Clark
