William “Bill” Conlee Jarrett, a retired Harbor Police Officer of San Diego, CA died unexpectedly on August 3, 2023 at the age of 82. William is survived by his wife, Donna Lynne Jarrett (nee Thomas); his niece Terri “TJ” Harlan; Read Obituary
I always enjoyed seeing Bill with his grandson Elliott each week at Elliott's piano lessons. The last time I saw him Elliott and I were discussing something and both of us couldn't find the right word, and all of a sudden Bill chimed in with the exact word ("mechanics"). He was sharp and funny and generous and will be missed.
Bill and I served together on the USS Mahan (DLG-11).
Due to his size, he became know as "Big'n".
He and I were both Radarman and worked together daily.
He was so knowledgeable about is Radarman duties and shared that knowledge with the junior personnel. He was a very kind person who always treated everyone with kindest and respect.
Bill was the finest shipmate a sailor could have.
