Sharing a memory of Uncle Bill….
Back in the late nineties, I remember the week that Uncle Bill, Aunt Phyllis, and Aunt Betty traveled over 2000 miles to visit us and stay with my folks, Angie & Frank. That week was the only time that I remember ever seeing and being with my uncle and aunts. Such a precious time in my life. Over the years, Mom and Dad always shared family photos and precious memories of Schellenberg’s with me, until illness consumed their lives.
During that precious week, what stood out the most to me was how Uncle Bill LOVED family and how family LOVED him. He, Aunt Phyllis, and Aunt Betty would share stories that made everyone laugh and feel at home. Their kindness and warmth touched so many lives, and I feel privileged to have had them in mine.
Even though distance kept us apart and opportunities to gather were nil, the memories from that week have remained with me, growing even more meaningful as time passes.
As I reflect on Uncle Bill’s enduring spirit, and the love he shared so freely with everyone around him, I’m reminded of how family bonds can bridge any gap. His laughter, gentle encouragement, and the warmth he brought to us have left a lasting imprint on my heart—one that continues to inspire me long after that visit.
Now, as I cherish those moments and the legacy he left behind, I find comfort in knowing that his kindness and joy live on in each story we share and every family memory we hold dear.
Please accept my sincere condolences, Aunt Betty, Donna, Laura, and your families.
With Love, from Cousin Dodie in Buffalo NY
