Obituary for Chief Petty Officer William Ernest Schellenberg
April 2, 1931 – December 3, 2025
It is with grieving hearts and great sorrow that the Schellenberg family announces the passing of their beloved father, Chief Petty Officer William Ernest Schellenberg. William passed away peacefully at home on December 3, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born to Jacob F. and Alva B. Schellenberg, William grew up with a strong sense of duty and integrity. During his high school years, he played baseball and joined ROTC, which led him to a distinguished career in service. In 1949, he entered the Navy Reserves and later joined the United States Navy, serving honorably during the Korean Conflict. His military career spanned 20 years, after which he continued his commitment to his country through 20 years of Civil Service at North Island, CA.
William met the love of his life, Phyllis Jeanenne DiPirro, and they married on September 26, 1950. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with three children: Laura Lee, Donna Jean (Steve), and Raymond Earl, along with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His family was his greatest joy.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and son. William will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family and country. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
